Welcome to the 52 Ways

“The spiritual landscape of Libya is changing,” says a worker familiar with the country.  “It used to be that we expected to see, one or two people come to Christ over a period of 10 to 20 years. Now if we don’t hear about a conversion every few months, we’re surprised. It’s an exciting time!”

These changes in individual Libyans’ lives, as well as other major changes affecting Libya, have surely come about as a result of concentrated prayer on the part of God’s people worldwide. When His church around the world binds together to pray as one for a purpose that is close to His heart, God has shown Himself faithful to act in mighty ways! There are still probably less than 50 believers among six million Libyans. But God is at work, and we ask you once again to join us in a mighty global prayer effort to bring Libyans before His throne this year.

This prayer guide is built around four stories – a journey to the heart of God’s people. None of the characters are real people, but each is a composite of people who live and work in Libya today. Where there are resemblances, names have been changes to protect identities. We submit these stories to you as a reflection of both what is happening and what can happen as Libyans turn to Christ and begin forming groups to fellowship together. Even if you read ahead to find out what happens to a character in a story, please remember to return to the prayer point each Sunday and hopefully many times during the week. We encourage you to share the guide with your children. Specific prayer points for children are designated, but children can understand many other parts of the guide as well. We also urge you to use this guide in your church, prayer, or home groups and reproduce them in your church publications.
